Zumba ® is the latest fitness craze hitting the UK!
Celebrity Fitness Trainer Alberto “Beto” Perez once forgot his music for his aerobics class and instead used the traditional Latin Salsa and Merengue music on tape from his car to teach. He improvised on the spot and Zumba ® was born (Colombia). But it was a challenge to improvise a whole class on the spot using non-traditional aerobics music.
Beto rose to the challenge and from this last-minute improvisation a revolutionary new concept in fitness was born – the Zumba Fitness-PartyTM! The class soon became the most popular class at his fitness facility.
Zumba ® is a spicy, hot, hip swivelling workout where African, Caribbean and Latin dance moves are combined with aerobics/fitness.
The dance routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba ® utilises the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximise caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. You can burn up to 1000 calories in a Zumba® class!
